Among the most distressing types of cases for parents, having a child taken away from a parent is a very traumatic event. These situations occur when a local Children's Aid agency deems a child is in need of protection and there is no other reasonable alternative to protect a child than apprehension. Parents and their lawyers need to work very hard in these cases to address the concerns and allegations raised by CAS agencies in order to have children returned to them. At times, a court may disagree there are concerns as perceived by CAS agencies and hence it is critical in these cases for parents to correct any misunderstandings or errors that might be presented to the court.
