The law provides that the parent with whom the children do not reside must pay child support based upon that parent's income. The more children there are, the the higher amount of support would be ordered against the non-residential parent. Determining income sometimes is not a simple task in certain cases such as those who are self-employed, or those who are in employment situations where income is extremely variable. Luckily the law makes the starting point easy through the publication of easily accessible Child Support Guildelines.
